Septic
Solutions, Inc. is owned and operated by a family that has been
in the septic system business since 1989.. All of the products we
offer on our online store are products we have been using daily
in our septic system installation business. We have a great deal
of hands-on experience with these products. We know our products
and the septic system business very well. Whether you are interested
in a septic air pump or septic aerator, few people understand them
better than us.
Sizing of your
septic air pump or septic aerator is extremely important and should
not be taken lightly. Although air pumps and air pump manufacturers
change over the years, the size of your replacement air pump should
remain the same. This will insure that your septic system
will function as it was originally designed and tested to perform.
Please use our information offered on this site, gathered through
our many years of experience, to help you choose the correct septic
air pump for your individual application.
If you
have a linear air pump, which would have a shape similar to a toaster,
that pump produces liters of air per minute by the fluctuation of
two diaphragms. The quality of those diaphragms, and the application
for which your air pump is used, will directly determine how long
they will last. There is a misconception that all air pumps are
the same, which is far from the truth. Many linear air pumps are
specifically manufactured for the water garden industry and will
not work well as a septic aerator or aerobic air pump. Septic air
pumps must force air through some type of diffuser assembly into
a combination of septage and sludge, which causes more head pressure
than many water garden air pumps can endure. Please pay
special attention and remember, although you can use septic air
pumps in your water garden you should not use water garden air pumps
in your septic or aeration system. Even if externally they
might look similar, internally they tend to be very different.
Some air pumps will
need to have their diaphragms replaced every 18 months, but the
quality air pumps should last 3 to 5 years before diaphragm replacement
would be necessary. For this reason, we recommend the Hiblow
linear air pumps. This is by far the most popular septic air
pump used by most of the aerobic manufacturers today. The Hiblow
diaphragms are very durable and can withstand the higher backpressures
they will be subject to in your septic system. Further, the Hiblow
air pumps have an internal safety screw designed to break when the
diaphragms start to fail, saving and prolonging the life of all
the other internal components of your pump. When the screw breaks,
the pump shuts down until you replace your diaphragms,
which I might add is very simple to do in a Hiblow air pump. Very
few linear air pumps have this important feature. Without this safety
device, your pump would continue to run with failing diaphragms
that could throw your shuttle out of alignment and permanently damage
your pump.
Besides being designed
specifically for the septic system industry, another distinctive
feature that separates our Hiblow pumps from other brands, and even
those Hiblows used in the water garden business, would be that many
aerobic alarms are activated by air pressures passing through a
small air tube between the air pump and the alarm or control panel
of your aerobic system. Septic Solutions’ Hiblow air pumps,
manufactured specifically for septic systems, come with a tap and
barb fitting used for this purpose. Should your application not
require the tap and barb fitting, we supply the correct plug with
every pump to easily eliminate that option.
